Bank holiday tidy up

We spent the bank holiday weekend tidying up the site and moving plants, pots, garden furniture etc. in preparation for trench digging and soil moving over the coming days. Steve will be on site tomorrow and we have Building Control here in the morning for a Commencement inspection.

Because we are self-building our own home we are exempt from paying CIL providing we dot all the i's and cross the t's. One of the conditions is that we tell the council when the build is to start. I asked Piers, our architect, to submit the CIL commencement notice to Purbeck District Council 3 weeks ago. Over the weekend I realised that we haven't had an acknowledgement from the council. If we start before receiving the acknowledgement we will be charged the levy. I contacted Piers and he will confirm with the council tomorrow.

On Sunday afternoon we received a visit from our friend Stu the electrician and his two dogs. He outlined his requirements regarding trunking for the new build.
