Let there be light

Dull days and long nights have been restricting the amount of time we are able to work in the house. We have been concentrating our efforts on getting some light in the house.
There will eventually be 3 lighting circuits: one serving the front of the house, another serving the back and a third serving the central part. We have focused on getting the circuit in the middle live as this would give us the most benefit as the centre is the darkest part of the house. Fortunately it also required the least effort of the three to complete. Cables were run through the stud walls and basic light fittings wired in in preparation for the electrician coming and testing the circuit and connecting it up to the consumer unit.

We have used Maestro clik plug-in ceiling roses. I don't like them much and they are fiddly to wire but they have the advantage that changing the light fitting down the line will be as easy as changing a plug. We now have some electric lighting in the house which is making things so much easier.
