A diversion

Let me introduce eddi. Eddi is an energy diverter and our hope is that it will save us money. An energy diverter detects how much energy the pv panels are generating and how much of that energy we are using. Any excess energy is diverted to the immersion heater until water in the tank is up to temperature (55 degrees Celsius) or until demand meets or surpasses what is being generated. If we are generating more than we are using and the water is up to temperature then the excess gets sent to the grid.

When we aren't generating excess electricity and the temperature of the water in the tank is lower than circa 46 degrees Celsius the air-source heat pump will heat the water (using power from the grid) to 46 degrees.
