A green light

Mark spoke with Mr Kitcatt, Building Control Manager for Purbeck District Council, this morning. Mr Kitcatt is happy with the calcs for the cruck frame and said it was O.K. for us to go ahead and order the crucks. He also gave us the green light to do the blockwork to damp-proof course which he will then come out and inspect.

Our friend Lew has agreed to help out with the blockwork. He is semi-retired builder who likes to keep his hand in. Here he is showing his credentials.

When he heard that Mark was going to try his hand at block-laying Lew was especially keen to come over and get the corners set out before Mark messed it up. Mark has been working as his labourer today.

Late this afternoon there was a deluge of biblical proportions. There was quite a lot of surface water flooding in the surrounding villages. We hadn't managed to cover all the blocks laid today and the rain washed out the mortar along the front wall meaning there will be some rework to do.

After the rain - we have a lovely sunny evening!
