Brace, brace

We've had heavy rain today. Fortunately we had lightly covered most of the timber yesterday evening and that stopped the wood from getting soaking wet. Gale force winds are forecast for tomorrow and the Met. Office have a yellow warning in place for Dorset. It brightened up somewhat this evening so I went out and put a few more blocks on the tarps but more in hope than expectation because the wind has picked up a little and the tarps are already lifting.

It is just as well that we have not started to raise the cruck frames as their webs would act like sails and catch the wind. We need to raise all the crucks and brace them with temporary purlins to give them some stability. The reason we erected the front gable end wall frame was to give us something to secure the first cruck to but it is exposed itself. Lew has begun the block work cladding to help stablise the frame and we have braced it against the grungelow in preparation for the winds to come.
