I don't care... when the weatherman says it's raining

The sarking is now in place and has been covered with breathable membrane. We have left a 40mm gap in the sarking at the ridge to allow air flow over the straw bales. Wire mesh has been secured over this gap to prevent insects getting into the space between the lime plaster and the sarking. Temporarily a strip of membrane covers the mesh to keep out the rain. No more fretting when rain is forecast.

Strong winds are another matter. Until the verges have been boxed in wind could get under the membrane at the gable ends and lift it off the roof.

Fixing the membrane over the sarking...

... all wrapped up.
