Bumpy-wumpy

A couple of weeks ago we had another 16 bags of Fibrechalk delivered.

The plasterers were back on site last week. They didn't get the plastering complete and had to come back for a couple more days this week. Now, finally the internal lime plastering of the strawbales has been finished! (Well except for the plastering around the window frames which will need to be done after the windows have been fitted. That is a job we will do ourselves.)

The look is bumpy-wumpy, following the contours of the bales and cruck frames, but acceptable for a rustic, strawbale house. As it was some time ago that the first layer of plaster was applied the surface required wetting with a hose before the final layer could be applied. As a result it is pretty wet and messy inside especially on the first floor.
