De-nailing torture

The reclaimed Junckers Flooring that we bought was described as de-nailed but in fact all that had been done was that the exposed pieces of nail had been cut off. This poses the risk of us hitting a nail when we blind nail the flooring in place.
There was also substantial amounts of hard, old glue on the surface of the tongues. To get a good glue bond between the flooring planks we require tight-fitting joints and clean gluing surfaces. This means that the old glue had to be removed too.

The nails were punched through to the back of the wood and cut off with a grinder whist the glue was scrapped of with a heavy duty scraper. Both of which are time-consuming and tortuous activities.
Mark and Lew have spent several days de-nailing and removing the glue.

They also serve who clean up the mess and dust after each de-nailing session and who provide the tea.
