A girt beam

We've bought a reclaimed 8" x 8" pitch pine beam to use as a column on the internal corner of the walls between the bedroom and the void over the kitchen. The beam had 3 planed surfaces and one rough. I've sanded all four surfaces to remove the grime and the worst of the splinters.
