A brace of pheasants

Well, I think they are pheasants. The beak doesn't look quite right but they look more like pheasants than any other game bird that I can think of. They were probably originally doors on a large 'game' cabinet. I have seen similar, converted into plaques, on eBay. Usually in better condition, more expensive and more often than not featuring dead hares and/or birds.
We got these to use as doors on cupboards we are planning to put in the roof apex above the bedroom door. The doors were very dirty, in poor condition and one had evidence of woodworm. I needed to treat this before storing them until we are ready to use them.
First I cleaned them. Next I removed the old varnish with methylated spirits and elbow grease before applying a wood treatment to kill the woodworm. Then the loose pieces were glued back on and the doors were given three coats of Danish Oil. I used Rustins Danish Oil. It's the first time I've used it. It's a much darker coloured oil than the Liberon Danish Oil which I have used previously.
Here is a real pheasant that I snapped in Eight Acre Coppice.
